NEW YORK—Prevent Blindness has again declared August as Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month, with the goal of educating parents, caregivers, professionals and policymakers on the important role vision and eye health plays in children’s development. As reported in VMAIL, Prevent Blindness is marking this month with free materials on children’s vision, including fact sheets, social media graphics, toolkits, videos and webpages on a variety of topics about children’s vision from infancy through adolescence. The NCCVEH, now celebrating its 15th anniversary, provides resources on getting children ready for school, taking a child to an eye doctor, preparing a child for wearing glasses or contact lenses, tips for preventing eye injuries and more.

A full list of resources, including webinars and more, is available through Vision Monday.

In addition to Prevent Blindness’ work, ECPs across the country are stepping up to the plate for Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month. This week, we’re taking a look at how some indies are using social media to help bolster their impact throughout August.
