NEW YORK, N.Y.—Akrinos and GRT Consultants have announced that Vision Week NYC an inaugural 3-day event for independent ophthalmic professionals will be taking place March 13-15 at The Times Center in New York City. According to the organizers, the event aims to bring together experts and thought leaders for networking, gaining insights on managing and building a practice and discovering new advancements in the field of ophthalmology. The schedule of events includes the following:

March 13

The Akrinos Business Builder workshops will provide education focused on the business fundamentals for starting, growing and transitioning an independent practice. These workshops will cover topics such as writing a strategic business plan and conducting financial and market feasibility analyses; financial benchmarking and cash flow management to maximize profitability; constructing a valuation and performing due diligence to sell or purchase an established practice; team engagement and motivation, the legal and HR requirements of the modern practice and more. All workshops will be taught by independent experts, including Erich Mattei, MBA; Ali Oromchian, Esq.; Kayla Ashlee; and Eric Levenhagen, CPA.

The event will feature OD Council on Optometric Practitioner Education (COPE), American Board of Opticianry (ABO) and paraoptometric continuing education (CE) classes as well as vendor exhibits showcasing the latest technology and products from equipment and ophthalmic companies, software as a service (SaaS) and business solutions providers. Education will focus on the latest advancements in full-scope optometry, taught by Mike Cymbor, OD; Chris Wroten, OD; Tim Earley, OD; April Jasper, OD, FAAO; and Jim Stringham, Ph.D.

Doctors and students will have access to 12 hours of OD COPE CE at Vision Week NYC. Licensed opticians, paraoptometric staff and those seeking licensure will have access to nine hours of ABO CE or CPC CE taught by experts and thought leaders including Kayla Ashlee, Brett Cates and more.

Vision Week NYC attendees will also have access to the LOFT Eyewear Show, Eyewear Design Week and more events taking place March 13-15 within walking distance of Vision Week NYC.
