NEW YORK—Women In Optometry (WO) has announced its annual highlight of optometry students who have graduated at the top of their class. This year, WO created a special section on its website that offers additional content and insights to provide a comprehensive look at these outstanding graduates. Graduates are organized by their region: West, South, Midwest and Northeast. There are additional components to the package, including conversations with recent top grads who share where their career journey is taking them, and a financial section that addresses different approaches to student loan debt as well as some of the repayment offers that some employers or companies provide.

Marjolijn Bijlefeld, editor-in-chief of Women In Optometry, said, “WO began recognizing the top graduates of North American schools and colleges of optometry in its second year of publication—2007. It’s been one of our publishing highlights for the past 18 years to shine a spotlight on the graduates who worked so hard to achieve academic success and to congratulate all the new ODs who are joining the profession. This year reflects an expansion in the coverage around this feature; we’ve added graduating class photos where we had them to more fully represent the nearly 2,000 new ODs who graduated this year.”

This program is generously supported by companies who join WO in congratulating the class of 2024: Alcon, Johnson & Johnson Vision, PECAA, Topcon Healthcare, Vision Source and Walmart, the announcement said.
