Michelle Tiganila.

FAIRFIELD, Conn.—Services were held here on June 1 for Michelle Tiganila, a longtime eyewear sales executive, who passed away on Sunday May 26 as the result of an automobile accident. Tiganila, 67, was well-known in the high-end eyewear and sunwear business, and for her outgoing and dynamic personality and sales achievements. Born and raised in Bucharest, she embraced a new chapter when she immigrated to the United States in 1984. Tiganila began her career in the cosmetics field and then moved to the eyewear industry.

For 11 years at Marcolin Group, rising to VP of retail, she was instrumental in launching such brands as Tom Ford and Dolce & Gabbana eyewear for that company. She later established her own business, MARR International Group, in New York in 2010. She also worked with such companies as De Rigo, Silhouette Optical, DITA and The Atelier, which was a hub for developing fashion brands in optical and retail.

Tiganila was the loving mother of Alexis Noel Tiganila. A funeral service was held on June 1 at Holy Brancoveanu Martyrs Romanian Orthodox Church in Fairfield, Conn., followed by interment at Willowbrook Cemetery in Westport, Conn. A tribute wall and other details are posted at the website of the Spear Miller Funeral Home.
