PEOPLE PECAA Expands Member Business Advisory Team to Support Independent Eyecare Practices By Staff Friday, January 19, 2024 12:21 AM Dianne Boulay, CPOC, (l) and Joel Daniel. BOCA RATON, Fla.—As part of Professional Eye Care Associates of America’s (PECAA) commitment to helping private practice prosper, the alliance has welcomed two new members to its Member Business Advisory team of subject matter experts who support PECAA Max members in a variety of critical practice areas at no additional cost. Dianne Boulay, CPOC, is PECAA’s newest billing and coding advisor, available for comprehensive guidance on billing and coding requirements and revenue optimization, and Joel Daniel is the team’s most recent optical business advisor addition, offering members optical management expertise for greater visibility, capture rates and profitability. As the nation’s largest community of independent eyecare professionals, PECAA’s expansion of the Member Business Advisory team demonstrates its dedication to independents as they continue to navigate a dynamic vision care landscape, the company said. The expanded support is also in response to the increased demand for PECAA’s business advisory services due to unprecedented membership growth in 2023 following the introduction of several new program features, including the VSP Vision Exam Rebate. “We’re excited to have Dianne and Joel as members of our team, enabling us to continue to deliver highly individualized guidance to our growing community of member practices,” said chief member experience officer Justin Manning, OD, MPH, FAAO. “Practices of all sizes and life cycles can benefit from the exclusive and unlimited access to our Member Business Advisory team for advice on specific areas of interest or to uncover new opportunities. The beginning of a new year is a perfect time for practice owners to understand the health of their business and formulate a strategy for taking it to the next level.” As a certified paraoptometric coder, Boulay began her optometry career in management at LensCrafters and most recently worked for VisionWeb as an RCM account representative. She also worked more than eight years in private practice management, including at a PECAA member practice. Boulay joins billing and coding advisor Teri Thurston. “As a former practice manager and member, I was initially impressed with PECAA’s preferred pricing on frames, lenses and equipment and loved how much money our practice saved,” said Boulay. “Then I learned the value of PECAA’s training programs, webinars and resources offered by the Member Business Advisory team, which helped us save even more. I’m thrilled to be a part of a highly talented team empowering members to maximize their growth and earning potential.” Daniel joins optical business advisor Kayla Groves, and brings 20 years of optical experience in both private practice and retail settings, working most recently as a sales business consultant for DeRigo REM. “I couldn't be more excited to join PECAA and have the opportunity to work with the PECAA Max community,” said Daniel. “I look forward to using the knowledge I gained as both a manager and vendor representative to give back to the industry that has given so much to me.” In addition to guidance with billing and coding and optical business topics, PECAA Max members have access to PECAA’s business advisory experience for expertise in the areas of business operations, finance and strategy, and practice marketing services as needed at no additional cost. PECAA also offers its Cold Start Program for aspiring practice owners. Learn more about PECAA’s Member Business Advisory experience here.
