BOYNTON BEACH, Fla.—Latinos en Optometry, a non-profit association dedicated to gaining a broader representation of Latinos and Spanish-speaking professionals within the optometry and larger eyecare professional community, today announced the appointment of Angelica Cifuentes, OD, to the Latinos en Optometry Advisory Board. Born in Colombia and raised in Miami, Dr. Cifuentes is a board-certified optometric physician practicing in Miami, and is also the CEO and co-founder of Bye Dry Eyes, an e-commerce website offering a range of dry eye products for patients.

Dr. Cifuentes completed her undergraduate studies with honors at Florida International University, the group advised, and she earned a second bachelor’s in vision science from Nova Southeastern University while concurrently pursuing her optometric degree. She then earned her doctor of optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in 2022.

In addition, Dr. Cifuentes is an active member of many optometric associations, including the American Optometric Association, Florida Optometric Association and the Miami Dade Optometric Association, the announcement stated. She is a visionary board member at the Contact Lens Institute, part of the communications committee with Women In Eyecare, and a member of the Tear Film and Ocular Surface Society (TFOS) and Optometry Divas South Florida Chapter. She also serves as a mentor for Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry Florida Optometric Student Association.

 
Finally, Dr. Cifuentes utilizes her substantial following across Instagram, TikTok and YouTube through her platform @tinyoptometrist to promote optometry and eyecare.
