Franklin D. Rozak.

NEW YORK—Franklin D. Rozak, a 50-year veteran of the optical industry, passed away on Aug. 13 at the age of 81. After attending the University of  Michigan, he worked as both a political consultant and optical industry leader, working for over 40 years for Cole National, the optical retailer, in a range of legal and operational roles, among them VP, government relations. He later served as a consultant to Luxottica Retail after Luxottica Group S.p.A. acquired Cole National Corp. in 2004. 
 
Rozak was a longtime officer and leader of the National Association of Optometrists & Opticians (NAOO), and was passionate about advancing the optical industry. His industry interest continued well into his retirement. 
 
He was active in local, state and national politics. According to Joe Neville, executive director of the NAOO, “He is remembered as being larger than life, for his booming voice and laughter and his kindness to all.
