Scott Shapiro.

CHICAGO—Europa Eyewear CEO Scott Shapiro is transitioning his position on the company’s board of directors to executive director of industry relations, the company has announced. Shapiro's transition will be gradual, and along with president Jerry Wolowicz and the leadership team, he will continue to guide the company’s trajectory and collaborate with the board to identify a new CEO. He will continue to represent Europa at industry events and with key organizations, including The Vision Council, where he currently serves as board chair. This move will allow Shapiro to refocus his efforts from overseeing daily operations to guiding the strategic direction of the company while actively promoting Europa to key stakeholders within the optical industry, the company noted. He will also play a pivotal role in reinforcing the core values that have defined Europa’s identity.

Scott Shapiro’s parents Alan and Cynthia Shapiro founded Europa in 1977. The family-run company remains committed to serving eyecare professionals, the announcement said. With its recent partnership formed with Blue Point Capital in April 2023, Europa said it is poised for accelerated growth.

Scott Shapiro said, “Europa has always been more than just a company to me and my role here has always been more than just a job. As a company, our priority has always been the well-being of our employees and partners, and I’m excited to focus more closely on fostering these relationships in my new role. Together with our team and Blue Point Capital Partners, Europa has established a solid foundation for continued market leadership. We are stronger now than ever, and I am incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished. The best is yet to come for our company.”

Blue Point Capital’s executive board chair, Holly Rush, added, “Scott is a deeply respected leader and a visionary who has led Europa over the past decade to remarkable success. We are honored to have him serve in this new capacity, where he will continue to influence Europa and the industry he loves. I truly could not be more excited to work alongside Scott as we look toward the future.”
