LaunchPad: Spectacle Lenses Zeiss Expands PhotoFusion Color Palette By Staff Thursday, March 8, 2018 12:11 AM Product: New Zeiss PhotoFusion ColorsTop Line: Carl Zeiss Vision has added three new colors to its Zeiss PhotoFusion self-tinting lens portfolio: Extra Grey, Pioneer Green and Blue. The new colors offer the same performance as the original PhotoFusion colors Grey and Brown, which are still available, according to Zeiss.Close Up: Hallmarks of the Zeiss PhotoFusion portfolio include lenses that are very clear indoors and quickly darken outdoors. The new Extra Grey color gets darker than the original Grey, even in warm climates, yet is still very clear indoors. Pioneer Green has the familiar Grey-Green sunlens tint when activated. Blue is a bold new color. The new colors provide additional options for patients seeking the convenience of clear lenses indoors with dynamic sunlight and glare reduction outdoors.Outdoors, Zeiss PhotoFusion lenses offer full protection against UV rays up to the 400nm standard. Indoors, these same lenses provide two times more blue light protection than standard clear lenses, Zeiss said.Vital Stats: Zeiss experts created PhotoFusion to meet consumer expectations on self-tinting lenses that darken and clear again faster. PhotoFusion technology uses patented photo-active molecules that respond more efficiently to light energy, fading up to two times faster than other photochromic lenses. This is the average performance of PhotoFusion compared to the other Zeiss photochromic lenses. Performance will vary according to material, temperature, treatments, and light conditions, Zeiss noted.www.zeiss.com; (858) 790-7700
