KINGWOOD, Texas—With the health and safety of its members a priority, Vision Source has set the dates of its annual meeting The Exchange as Aug. 4 through Aug. 7. The four-day event is now scheduled for the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston (it had previously been scheduled to be there in mid-April). At this year’s Exchange, Vision Source also plans to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its founding. Vision Source noted that The Exchange has helped to “shape the industry and champion private practice” since 1990. The 2021 event previously had been scheduled for April 14-17 in Houston. In moving the event to early August, the group noted that “careful consideration” of the current COVID-19 situation was taken.

“We looked at current and projected pandemic conditions, likely advances in and distribution timing of vaccines as well as current trends of large meetings and events,” Vision Source said.

The Exchange might look a little different, but members can still expect the same great offerings, including the following:

• Vendor presentations and exclusive once-a-year deals
• Important messages from Vision Source leadership
• Impactful Keynote Speakers
• Continuing Education & Learning Labs
• Staff focused training including ABO & NCLE prep courses
In addition, Vision Source noted that the following safety measures will be in place unless it becomes medically unnecessary to do so:
• Temperature screenings upon entering the Convention Center building
• 6 foot floor markers placed throughout convention and hotel space
• All staff and personnel are required to wear masks
• Increased cleaning frequency of high touch areas like doors, elevators and escalators
• Increased aisle spacing in the Exhibit Hall
• Over 80 hand sanitizing stations placed around the convention center building
• Increased space between seating in all general sessions and breakouts
• Assigned dining seating times to reduce crowds and allow for appropriate servicing
• Individual prepackaged servings during food functions and no self-serve buffet stations
