ATLANTA—EyeSouth Partners announced that it has completed an affiliation with Retina Associates of Middle Georgia (RAMG). The affiliation represents EyeSouth’s eighth in the state of Georgia and 18th affiliation overall. EyeSouth, an eyecare-focused management services organization backed by Shore Capital Partners, is committed to partnering with leading physicians to build a premier network of eyecare services in the South, according to the announcement. EyeSouth’s affiliate network consists of 18 practices with approximately 126 doctors providing medical and surgical eyecare services at approximately 73 locations, including 11 surgery centers throughout Georgia, Texas, Louisiana, North Carolina, Florida, Tennessee and Alabama.

Retina Associates of Middle Georgia, which is led by Drs. Norman Nelson, Steven Allee and Arpan Bachhawat, employs approximately 30 support staff across two primary clinical locations in the middle Georgia area. For nearly 30 years, RAMG and its board-certified ophthalmologists have offered first-class expertise in the treatment of diseases of the retina, macula, and vitreous to patients throughout Middle Georgia, including a strong commitment to providing care in underserved areas.

“Our primary goal at Retina Associates of Middle Georgia has always been to deliver exceptional medical and surgical retinal care combined with an outstanding patient experience,” Dr. Nelson, who founded RAMG in 1992, said in the announcement.

“To further build upon this mission in the rapidly changing health care environment, we have decided to affiliate with EyeSouth as our partners to help us strengthen and expand our operational and administrative capabilities," Nelson said.

“Despite the ongoing challenges that our country faces with COVID-19, EyeSouth is committed to affiliating with the highest quality ophthalmology practices,” added Eugene Gabianelli, MD, chief medical officer of EyeSouth Partners. “Drs. Nelson, Allee and Bachhawat maintain a longstanding reputation for delivering best-in-class patient care throughout Middle Georgia. We are looking forward to taking this partnership to the next level and providing our expertise and best practices to continue Retina Associates of Middle Georgia’s history of practice growth and commitment to serving the local community.”
