ST. PAUL, Minn.—The Association of Technical Personnel in Ophthalmology (ATPO) has announced that Amy Jost, BS, COMT, CCRC, OSC, has been elected as the group’s new president. She succeeds immediate past president Sergina Flaherty, COMT, OSC. Jost has worked in ophthalmology for more than 20 years and is currently the clinical research and education manager at Cincinnati Eye Institute, where she coordinates continuing education programs and oversees numerous clinical research projects, according to ATPO’s announcement. Jost has served on ATPO’s board of directors since 2013, and serves as chair of the career development task force. She also led the development of the tech training and “train-the-trainer” programs. She is an advisor and a past president of the Kentucky state chapter of ATPO, KATPO, according to the announcement.

“I have a passion for helping Allied Ophthalmic Personnel (AOP) with certification and career growth and am excited about being the president of ATPO,” Jost said in the announcement. “I’m looking forward to helping create new and innovative educational opportunities to meet the needs of ophthalmic professionals everywhere.”

ATPO is the professional membership organization for Allied Ophthalmic Personnel (AOP) and it represents a diverse group of AOP, including (but not limited to) ophthalmic assistants, technicians, technologists, surgical and keratorefractive technicians. The organization offers educational and professional development opportunities through a range of programs and activities, including classes and workshops at annual and regional meetings and online webinars. ATPO also offers a regional mentor network assisting professionals already in the field of ophthalmology as well as recruiting new candidates.
