RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif.—VSP Global is announcing the launch of VSP PremierMax, described as "a new benefit enhancement available to VSP clients designed to create a high-value member experience." PremierMax promotes eyecare with additional savings for VSP members while helping to support patient flow and increase opportunities for participating Premier Program practices at the Gold and Platinum levels, the announcement said.  Effective January 1, 2022, eligible VSP members will have access to the new enhanced benefits when they visit Premier Program indicated practices, with the ability to select features such as $0 copays on WellVision Exams and retinal screenings, covered lens enhancements, and higher frame allowances.

Members will still maintain their standard coverage at all other VSP network provider locations.

The company didn't provide additional detail on the program but a spokesperson told VMAIL that more information will be available in mid-January regarding PremierMax on the VSP Provider Hub.

“We’ve made considerable efforts to better support doctors through innovative solutions all year long. And while the year is winding down, our commitment to evolve the Premier Program continues in full force into the new year,” said Michelle Skinner, chief network officer at VSP Global. “PremierMax is the culmination of our reinvestments into the Premier Program in 2021 and just a taste of what’s to come in 2022.”

Several VSP clients have already elected to offer PremierMax starting in 2022, VSP said. PremierMax will be available to more than 1.2 million VSP members with select clients, including the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP).

In 2021, VSP pointed out in its announcement about PremierMax that the Premier Program continued to evolve and deliver enhancements to support patient flow, boost profitability, and provide additional practice support, among these:

  • Through a new strategic partnership with Optify, Premier Program indicated practices can now receive access to best-in-market pricing on Optify’s industry-leading e-commerce software solutions, enabling a customized digital storefront solution to sell inventory online, maximize revenue, and strengthen patient relationships.

  • Practices participating at the Platinum level received additional revenue opportunities through the expanded choice and flexibility created with the announcement of the Extra Lens Savings program. In addition to receiving Unity Savings of up to $32, Platinum practices receive exclusive payments on eligible Carl Zeiss Vision up to $12 and Hoya Vision Care products up to $9.

  • Nearly 1,000 practices benefited from access to a robust digital marketing toolkit complementing a national advertising campaign, supporting marketing for increased patient flow at the national and local level.

  • Doctors in more than 20 regions participated in community networking events, gaining valuable insight they could implement immediately.

  • Hundreds of practices signed up to receive up to a $2,200 credit on new or existing Eyefinity Practice Management subscriptions.

  • More than 100 no-cost, live and on demand online trainings were delivered through Premier Academy360 for doctors and staff spanning upward of 15,000 hours, including 2,500 hours of continuing education. Topics ranged from diabetes education to business-boosting opportunities through the Premier Program, leveraging doctor-remote exam services to managing patient communication, and more.
