RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif.—To mark its 70th anniversary, VSP Vision has announced several initiatives that the company advised will support its goal of investing in the long-term success of network providers, optometry students and in the expansion of access to eyecare for communities in need. “For 70 years, VSP Vision has been proud to serve stakeholders, not shareholders,” said VSP Vision president and CEO Michael Guyette. “Reaching this milestone provides us with a chance to celebrate and reinforce our commitment to the communities we serve and the investments we continue to make in them.”

To honor 70 years of helping people see, VSP Vision has announced the following initiatives:
 
Supporting private practices with the VSP Vision Exam Rebate
The VSP Vision Exam Rebate, in which more than 2,100 practices have benefited from more than $33 million for the care they deliver to patients, has been extended through 2025. The initiative from Professional Eye Care Associates of America (PECAA) and VSP Vision offers doctors the opportunity to receive up to $10 per VSP commercial eye exam, and as much as $60,000 in total incremental revenue this year.
 
Delivering live regional education events
The company will be bringing live regional education and training events to 24 markets across the country. The VSP101 Workshops are designed to support providers by offering insights and practical training to enhance practice efficiency and profitability. Supporting optometry’s next generation with 70 student scholarships
VSP Vision will offer 70 scholarship opportunities to students of optometry, including The Practice Excellence Scholarship, The VSP Premier Edge Student Business Challenge, The Dr. Marvin R. Poston Leadership Awards, The Student Innovator Award, The Vision of Hope Scholarship, The Dr. Frank D. Fontana Memorial Scholarship, The Dr. Craig Hisaka Memorial Scholarship and more. To date, VSP Vision advised, it has invested more than $4 million in scholarships to support aspiring eye doctors.
 
Extending the VSP Student Loan Repayment Program
To help alleviate the financial pressures that new doctors may face, VSP Vision is investing an additional $4 million to extend the VSP Student Loan Repayment Program. The program also aims to address critical access gaps by encouraging doctors to serve in health care deserts—areas where VSP Vision Care members have limited access to care. 
 
Improving equitable access to eyecare for communities in need through VSP Vision Eyes of Hope Mobile Clinic 70-event Tour
In honor of the company's 70-year anniversary, VSP Eyes of Hope mobile clinics will be traveling across the United States, hosting 70 events in various communities. The mobile clinics, alongside volunteer VSP network doctors, bring essential no-cost eyecare services directly to individuals in need. This year, VSP Eyes of Hope will also be adding a new mobile clinic to its fleet, helping make the 70-event tour possible. To date, more than 4 million people in need have received access to no-cost eyecare and eyewear through one of the Eyes of Hope programs, VSP noted.
