LEXINGTON, Ky.—The United Opticians Association (UOA) has announced the appointment of Bob Alexander, ABOM, NCLEM, as its director of education. With more than a decade of experience in the optical industry, including roles with Hoya and Maui Jim, Alexander brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to UOA, according to the announcement. With an associate degree of applied science in opticianry master designations from both the ABO and NCLE, and experience as a spectacle-contact lens licensed optician in his home state of Ohio, Alexander said that he is committed to enhancing educational initiatives and resources that will benefit opticians across the country and internationally.

His passion for eyecare and dedication to professional development will be instrumental in advancing UOA’s mission to support and empower its 39,000+ members, the organization noted.

UOA is a national opticians association, representing contact lens and spectacle opticians since 1925. The association supports, promotes and advances the profession through education, credentialing and advocacy.
