NEW YORK—Nearly a quarter (23.2 percent) of the 332 respondents who participated in
Jobson Research's 2014 ECP Internet Usage Study and have a social media presence for their optical practice said that their practices posted content on a social media site a few times a week in 2014, an increase of about two percent when compared with those who said they posted a few times a week in 2013.
The next highest number of respondents (17.0 percent) said that their practice posted content on a social media site a few times a month in 2014, which is down about two percent when compared with 2013. Slightly less than half (44.2 percent) said that they posted content on a social media site anywhere from a few times a day (4.0 percent) to once a week (12.3 percent), including once a day (4.7 percent) and a few times a week (23.2 percent), which is up about 1 percent from 43.0 percent in 2013.
Conducted in December 2014, those surveyed consisted primarily of optometrists (42.8 percent) and opticians (43.6 percent), with 45.6 percent representing practices with two or more locations and the rest with a single location.
