OAKLAND, N.J.—Topcon Healthcare, Inc., a provider of digital health care solutions and robotic diagnostic devices, has announced the appointment of Tilman Otto as the vice president of technology innovation and incubation. In this new role, the company said Otto will be shaping the next generation of technology solutions that will support Topcon's Healthcare from the Eye initiative, a connected care ecosystem applying artificial intelligence to non-invasive retinal scans for improved health care access and costs via earlier detection and more efficient management of disease.

Otto brings nearly three decades of experience developing breakthrough innovations in diagnostic imaging and digital health technology. Prior to joining Topcon Healthcare, Otto was the head of technology management at Heidelberg Engineering GmbH, where he led the technology strategy for ophthalmic imaging systems and managed the intellectual property filings for several major innovations. He is also one of the inventors of the patent for eye motion correction in optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging systems.

In his new role at Topcon, Otto will focus on identifying, developing and scaling promising new technologies to transform the health care landscape. In addition to overseeing the innovation pipeline, he will collaborate with R&D teams to guide the development of new imaging systems and diagnostic solutions that push the boundaries of eye and systemic health diagnostics.
