NEW YORK—Each summer for the past 17 years, the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation joins The Fresh Air Fund to provide free eye exams and glasses to summer campers who may otherwise lack access to vision care. Founded in 1877, The Fresh Air Fund provides free outdoor summer camp experiences to children from New York City’s underserved communities and has served 1.8 million children since its founding. So far this summer, the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation and The Fresh Air Fund have provided vision care to over 600 campers, with additional clinics scheduled in August. Of the patients seen, 91 percent needed prescription glasses.

“We know that providing access to vision care to children builds their self-confidence, sets them up for academic success, and allows them to reach their fullest potential," said Becky Palm, executive director, OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation North America. "Our long-held partnership with The Fresh Air Fund provides such a timely opportunity to invest in kids’ vision during National Children's Eye Health and Safety Month before they start school each year.”

Employees from across EssilorLuxottica volunteer their time each summer to ensure kids in New York leave their summer camp experience with clear sight. This year, Pearle Vision, Target Optical and FGX helped fund these vision clinics. For more information on this initiative, visit freshair.org or onesight.essilorluxottica.com.
