CHICAGO—Through its National Center for Children’s Vision and Eye Health, Prevent Blindness announced it will co-present a webinar next week with the Catalyst Center,  a national center dedicated to improving health care coverage and financing for children and youth with special health care needs. The joint webinar, titled “The Affordable Care Act and Children with Vision and Eye Health Needs,” is scheduled to take place on Jan. 14, 2014 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. E.T.

The partnership comes at an appropriate time for Prevent Blindness, which announced its goal to mark 2014 as the “Year of Children’s Vision,” an initiative covered in further detail in VM’s December 2013 issue.

Speakers for the Jan. 14 webinar include Meg Comeau, MHA, co-principal investigator, of The Catalyst Center; Alison Manson, MPH, director of government affairs at PBA and E. Eugenie Hartmann, PhD, professor of vision sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, who will present “An Overview of the Consumer Protections and Coverage Options in the ACA,” “How the ACA Impacts Children's Vision” and “Vision Considerations for Children with Special Medical Needs,” respectively.

Registration for the webinar is available on The Catalyst Center website and must be completed by Jan. 10, 2014.
