Tuesday, April 23, 2024 12:25 AM LOMBARDY, Italy—Sergio Luigi Cereda, influential eyewear designer and industry visionary, passed away on April 18, 2024, following a long illness, his family announced yesterday. Cereda was 88 years old and surrounded by family at his home in Castiglione Olona, Lombardy, Italy, when he passed. He is survived by his wife Ivana, daughters Caterina and Stefania and grandchildren Edoardo, Jordan Nicolo’ and Giada Grazia.

The North American Award follows the creation of the European award to honor Cereda, which was successfully launched at the Mido exhibition in Milan on Feb. 3, as VMAIL previously reported. The deadline for submissions for the inaugural North American Sergio Cereda Design Award is Oct. 1, 2024. Winners of the award will be announced in 2025.

Kering Eyewear 2023 Sales Reach Record €1.5 Billion

In the fourth quarter, sales were up 6 percent on a comparable basis.
