Adam Cowfer.

PITTSBURGH—To become more vertically integrated and enter the wholesale business, Norman Childs Eyewear has hired Adam Cowfer as its sales manager. Formally of Retrospecs, Cowfer relocated from Los Angeles to Pittsburgh to start in his new position on July 1, 2015. Cowfer will report to founder and CEO, Norman Childs, and his brother, vice president Brad Childs.

Among Cowfer’s responsibilities will be wholesale operations, production and quality management, marketing and international integration. He will also serve as the brand ambassador by developing wholesale relationships.

Norman Childs Eyewear will be made available to other optical businesses in the U.S. and Asia starting with Vision Expo West, which will be held in Las Vegas, Sept. 16 to 19, 2015. This is the first time the line will be made available wholesale. “We will be seeking no more than 150 optical practices and boutiques that carry more independent lines the first year,” Cowfer told VMail. “There is nothing out there similar to Norman Childs Eyewear and very few that are handmade in America. Dealership agreements will be made with the best stores in the country.”

In addition to Norman Childs Eyewear, the Norman Childs family of companies includes Eyetique, 3 Guys Optical and, most recently, Chromos Eyewear, founded by Norman’s son, Daniel, who opened the first Chromos physical location earlier this month.
