MCKINNEY, Texas— CEing is Believing, the upcoming online optometric conference and trade show, has announced that Larry Alexander, OD, will be the keynote speaker for the event, which will be held on July 16 to 17 and July 21 to 22.

Alexander, an optometrist, lecturer and former optometric professor known to most optometrists as the author of an optometry school standard, "Primary Care of the Posterior Segment, Third Edition," has embraced the reach and benefits of online education through his own site, EyeLessons. “I support the idea of online education because of real and potential value it brings to our industry,” stated Alexander. “Imagine that I can sit at my desk and attend a lecture by such notable speakers as Mile Brujic, OD, Mark Dunbar, OD or Steve Ferrucci, OD. That’s extraordinary.”

Alexander’s keynote address will be titled, "The Times They are a Changin’… Let’s take a Look at the Crystal Ball," and he will discuss the future of online education and its implication for optometry. “I hope to shake things up a bit,” he said. “We have established educational paths that need to bend and change with the times and that is not easy. I hope to assist with the bending.”

Registration is still open for the second annual CEing is Believing, Optometry’s Virtual Continuing Education Conference and Exhibition organized by EyeCarePro. The virtual conference is co-founded by EyeCarePro CEO David Rostenne and Alan Glazier, OD, FAAO.

CEiB offers optometrists high quality, COPE approved lectures. Alexander’s keynote address, and all of the CEiB courses, will be presented live online with opportunities to ask questions of the presenters, and then archived for three months after the event is over.

Optometrists can see if online CE is approved by their state by visiting the CEiB website where the conference agenda and speaker information is posted.
