ALEXANDRIA, Va.—Optical product distributor ABB Optical Group is the latest industry partner to join the Think About Your Eyes national public outreach campaign. Presented by The Vision Council and the American Optometric Association, the Think About Your Eyes campaign is designed to educate the public about the importance of vision health and an annual comprehensive eye exam.

“Many Americans don’t fully understand the importance of preserving their vision through preventive health care measures and as a result put themselves in danger by neglecting their annual eye examinations,” said ABB Optical Group CEO Angel Alvarez. “Educating the public is the first step to combating this negligence and improving vision health nationwide, and we are proud to join the American Optometric Association and other industry leaders in supporting this outstanding cause.”

ABB Optical Group joins a growing list of industry partners, including Essilor, Luxottica, National Vision, Refac Optical Group, Transitions, Hilco, Walman Optical, and others. The campaign’s messaging is targeted to reach 93 percent of all adults ages 24 to 54 in the U.S. Eyecare professionals who support Think About Your Eyes receive a listing on the campaign’s website. Nearly 800,000 people have visited the website since its launch, and more than 75 percent of them utilized the website’s doctor locator feature.
