NEW YORK—On June 20-21, Safilo Group’s SOLSTICE sunglass stores celebrated its 10th anniversary along with the launch of the new Carrera sunglass collection, the Carrera 6000. Held outdoors at downtown Manhattan’s Gansevoort Plaza, the celebration included live music from DJ’s like Solange Knowles, Mia Morretti, and Ra Ra Riot, along with celebrity appearances from Miss USA 2012 Olivia Culpo, Entourage main man Adrian Grenier, and Sports Illustrated model and fiancée to John Legend Chrissy Teigen. Notable industry presence included Safilo execs Rick Talmage, Ross Brownlee and Robin Ettinger, who expressed excitement about the launch and the mark of a decade for Solstice Sunglass Boutique.

“We wanted to do something extra special this year in the city where we are headquartered to celebrate the Summer Solstice – the first day of summer – which is obviously a very special and important day for us,” said COO of SOLSTICE Sunglasses Rick Talmage.

Attendees enjoyed live music, refreshments, and parkour performances from street athletes The Tribe. Press and patrons were also invited into a geodesic dome situated at the center of the plaza intending to symbolize the sun, where they could try on one of the nine styles of the Carrera 6000.
