LOS ANGELES— REM Eyewear has announced that it has extended its licensing agreement with American designer John Varvatos through 2018. Under the agreement, REM will continue to collaborate with the designer to design, manufacture and distribute a collection of eyewear and sunglasses.

“Collaborating with John Varvatos has been inspiring, rewarding, and enjoyable,” said Mike Hundert, REM CEO and chief creative officer. “We’re proud and excited to extend our relationship with such a creative and passionate designer who shares our vision of a bright future for John Varvatos Eyewear.”

A three-time CFDA Designer of the Year winner, the license extension coincides with a global expansion for the Varvatos brand. The Detroit-born designer has grown his fashion line into a lifestyle brand, which includes everything from fragrance bottles to a Chrysler’s limited edition 300c automobile. The renewed license agreement with REM validates the strength of the collaboration as well as REM’s commitment to expand the presence of John Varvatos Eyewear in the marketplace, the company said.
