CHICAGO—Prevent Blindness America (PBA), the nation’s oldest volunteer eye health and safety organization, launched its third annual online auction on June 1. The auction, which will run until June 30, gives the public the opportunity to help save sight by bidding on a variety of donated items including airline tickets, sports memorabilia, jewelry, tickets to nationally broadcast television shows, restaurant gift certificates and designer sunglasses available for bidding or purchase.

“We are thrilled with the amount of quality items that have been donated to us by our generous sponsors and are asking the public to help us with our mission to protect vision by going online and bidding,” said Hugh R. Parry, president and CEO of Prevent Blindness America. “All of the proceeds from the auction will go directly to our sight-saving services and programs.”

Some of the items available for bidding include: A Harrod’s London Shopping Package including a five night stay at the four-star Hyatt Regency London- The Churchill, and air fare for two; two roundtrip airline tickets on AirTran to anywhere in the continental U.S.; a Chicago Cubs 1930 Cooperstown Replica Jersey; autographed photos of international sports superstars Derek Jeter, George Foreman and Roger Federer ; designer sunglasses from Cocoons, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Prada, Ray-Ban and Ted Baker , and a “Wheel of Fortune” VIP pass for four for a taping of the show at Sony Studios in Culver City, Calif.

Bidders may log on to www.preventblindness.net/auction to start bidding. All proceeds from the auction will go to fund Prevent Blindness America’s vision screening and education programs, sight-saving research and advocacy initiatives.
