Essilor Instruments USA Launches All-Inclusive Digital Tracer/Blocker

Product:
Iness T
Top Line: Iness T, the industry’s first tracer/blocker featuring Essilor Instruments’ proprietary OST system for accurate optical shape tracing, made its North American debut last week at Vision Expo West.
Close Up: A member of Essilor’s Triplets family, Iness T is a unique two-in-one device that combines breakthrough optical shape tracing with accurate digital centering.
“Iness T features a new level of accuracy for optical shape tracing and eliminates a mechanical tracer purchase. Pairing it with a Jess edger makes it’s an affordable entry level finishing system with state-of-the-art features,” said Robin Rhodes, director of sales, Essilor Instruments USA.
“Until now, optical tracing wasn’t accurate enough for many of today’s frame styles. Our engineers designed the special 3D OST software that together with a sophisticated infrared light system provides extremely accurate traces,” Rhodes noted.
Vital Stats: Iness T creates 3D shapes from any demo lens or pattern, based on 800 points trace and frame curve parameters and uses a two-way optical path – eliminating lens power distortion. The blocker has a parallax-free camera system and 3D compensation, as well as a wide working area for lens marking visualizations even on lenses with dark tints. Iness T can store up to 1,000 jobs and offers a second edger connection to handle more edging capacity.

Uprise met all of those requirements, as well as additional elective modules, for a total of 42 modules tested. As a complete Meaningful Use Stage 2 Certified solution, Uprise will give eyecare providers the ability to attest for both stage 1 and stage 2.

BPI's Deep Blue Zee Reduces Light Sensitivity for Epileptics

Product:
Deep Blue Zee (product #37886)
Top Line: Recent studies have shown that certain blue tints such as BPI Deep Blue Zee are helpful for people with light sensitive epilepsy. Of over 600 photosensitive epileptic patients tested, 94 percent had their photoparoxysmal responses (PPR’s) completely eliminated or greatly reduced by using a deep blue lens.
Close Up: Deep Blue Zee is a therapeutic tint. It is part of the BPI’s line of Filter Vision Blue Barrier tints which were developed to provide maximum blue light protection.
Aging and ocular conditions can make eyes extremely sensitive to what is normally seen as moderate glare. These same pathological conditions also increase the possibility of veiling glare caused by blue light scatter within the eye. Filtering out UV and blue light reduces glare and relieves discomfort. This can benefit patients with conditions such as:
  • Developing cataracts
  • Macular degeneration
  • Aphakia and pseudophakia
  • Diabetic retinopathy
  • Glaucoma
  • Aniridia
  • Albinism
  • Optic atrophy
  • Corneal dystrophy
  • Retinitis pigmentosa
Vital Stats: Deep Blue Zee is available in 4 oz. bottles.
