ProDesign Adds Volume and Color to Essential

More Images
Quick Take: ProDesign has added new styles to their Essential collection, which pairs metal frames with volume and color.
Specifics: Three feminine shapes and two masculine shapes, styles 1242-46, available in four colors each and suitable for progressive lenses.
Selling Points: The ProDesign designers wanted to challenge themselves as well as the material they work with, by taking a flat sheet of metal and giving it volume without making it clumsy or bulky, according to the company. The solution they came up with was to make a number of “steps” in the temples which create depth in combination with color. Usually when working with metail the ProDesing designers will stick with two or three colors, but in this collection they have used no less than five colors on each frame which was possible due to the structure of the pattern on the temples. The frames are first painted in the basic color and then each step is colored by hand. The colors are mostly classic autumn tones and some more lively colors for wearers who wish to make a statement. The shapes are also classic with just a hint of retro fashion.
