Alcon Launches Air Optix Colors SiHy Contact Lenses

More Images

Quick Take: Alcon has introduced the first monthly replacement color contact lenses available in the U.S. using silicone hydrogel technology.
Wearer: ECPs may prescribe the lenses to correct vision, but they also have the option to prescribe plano lenses for consumers who do not require correction yet still want to enhance their eye color. For current Air Optix Aqua contact lens wearers, there is no refit required.
Specifics: Air Optix Colors contact lenses are available in nine colors, ranging from subtle (pure hazel, blue, green, gray and brown), to more vibrant (brilliant blue, gemstone green, honey and sterling gray). Combining Alcon’s 3-in-1 ColorBlends lens technology with Air Optix Aqua lens material, Air Optix Colors allows up to six times more oxygen through the lens when compared to the leading color contact lens, according to the company.
Selling Points: “The scientific advancements make this lens the biggest breakthrough in the color contact lens industry in more than a decade,” said Carla Mack, OD, MBA, FAAO, director of professional and clinical support for U.S. Vision Care at Alcon. “Our consumers, millennials in particular, want to enhance their eye color. Now, we can give them an option that’s not only stunning but also incredibly comfortable.” Nina Dobrev, star of Vampire Diaries and Alcon spokesperson, said, “Air Optix Colors isn’t about changing who you are or altering the features you were born with. Rather, it’s a new opportunity to enhance your best accessory, your eyes, just like I would with mascara or a bright new eye shadow.”

Marcolin Unveils New Balenciaga Sun Styles

Marcolin has introduced two new Balenciaga sun styles. First, the BA0003 are a fusion of two frames thanks to double lenses, which create contrast in volumes, colors, bold lines and soft rims, highlighted by transparencies and classic color combinations. The style evokes ‘70s volumes with its square shape, while the four available colors enhance the texture of the materials. Second, the special edition BA00013 is the runway style from the brand’s Spring/Summer 2014 RTW show. It is a futuristic interpretation of the house’s avant garde heart with a retro-futuristic design. The metal model, whose front is finely interwoven with the temples thanks to the Balenciaga monogram, has a graceful shape, is available in two colors and references the emblematic volumes of the Balenciaga lines. www.marcolin.com

Legacie Bows New Judith Leiber ‘Hammered’ Styles

Legacie, the luxury house of B. Robinson, has introduced new frames from the Judith Leiber Hammered collection. Inspired by the crushed detailing of the bold metals, the group also boasts frames inlaid with over 100 hand-set genuine Austrian crystals in tonal and pop colors for an added element of detail. The new addition includes two feminine ophthalmic shapes, the JL, which is also available in Asian Fit, and the JL 1659. www.legacie.com
