QSpex Launches New Family of Photochromic Lenses

Full Image

Quick Take: QSpex Technologies is releasing a new family of photochromic lenses, AQuity LTD with QuasAR, which are designed to be made on-site in a practitioner’s office, utilizing the QSpex Premium Lens Fabrication System.
Wearer: “Certainly an obstacle to patients ordering advanced treatments like photochromic and vacuum-deposited AR is the extra time they often have to wait to get their glasses back,” noted Kevin Bligh, VP of sales and marketing for QSpex. “AQuity LTD with QuasAR now gives practitioners the ability to serve their photochromic patient population with greater speed and a premium product. Since many patients who use photochromic lenses are progressive wearers, not having to wait for a new Rx is a big advantage.”
Specifics: The system utilizes single use, disposable plastic molds which can be recycled instead of cleaned. All lens treatments are pre-applied onto the molds by QSpex and transfer during lens curing.
Selling Points: The QSpex Premium Lens System is designed with a small footprint. The daily operation of the system is easily learned by office personnel, according to QSpex. The hands-on time requiring operator attention is about five minutes per pair of lenses.

Moscot Debuts New Spirit Line, New Originals Styles and a New Campaign to Tie Them Together

Full Image

Quick Take: Moscot has relaunched its Moscot Spirit Collection, released new additions to its fall 2013 Moscot Originals Collection and launched a new campaign featuring identical twins wearing selected styles from both collections.
Specifics: Eight new styles in the relaunched Spirit Collection and five new styles in the Originals collection.
Selling Points: The relaunched Spirit Collection shares the same great DNA as the Moscot Originals in terms of elements and features – the same high quality acetate, real hardware for the sturdiest possible construction, authentic period details featuring a wide-ranging new color palette and color combinations, and signature brass end caps. For fall 2013, the Moscot Originals Collection adds the Balebus, Glick, Oygen, Velvyl and Zilch styles. The five perfectly recreated new styles are pulled straight from the Moscot family archives and feature classic period details, and new colors first made popular in the 1960s. The company will launch the new styles, along with its newly redesigned Moscot Spirit Collection, with the help of six sets of identical twins to reinforce the message that while the Moscot Originals and Spirit Collections possess separate and unique qualities, they share the same great DNA that fans expect from a Moscot frame. “Identical twins perfectly reinforced the message that good genes really do run in the Moscot Family,” said Wendy Simmons, co-president of Moscot. “We want fans to understand that a Moscot frame is a Moscot frame, regardless of collection, and if you like the qualities and aesthetic of the Originals Collection, there’s no doubt you’ll love the Spirit Collection, too.”
