Match Eyewear Launches Danny Gokey Sun

Quick Take: Match Eyewear has introduced the Danny Gokey Sun collection, the first sun collection for the brand and the first time styles have been designed for both men and women.
Wearer: Men and women, age 18 to 35.
Specifics: The sun collection launches with four models that are modern interpretations of vintage styles that speak directly to the classic, genuine style of the brand, according to Match.
Selling Points: The DGS 100 is a round shape updated with metal accents on uplifted, slim temples. The 101 has a wayfarer shape and metal detailing at the temples with a narrow front and slender, tapered arms; while the 102 is true to the classic wayfarer with a pronounced brow gradient and sturdy arms. The DGS 103 offers retro Hollywood glamour with a wide, softened geometric front. All are crafted from laminated Italian acetate in black or Havana with dark lenses and come with a protective hard case and branded cleaning cloths. Match will also feature the new line in upcoming integrated marketing efforts.

Reptile Polarized Sunglasses Introduces SlimPlus Wrap Rx

Quick Take: Reptile Polarized Sunglasses is releasing SlimPlus, a new digital lens design that allows high plus prescriptions to be fitted in Base 8 wrap in large frame sizes.
Wearer: “We are very excited about the expansion of our prescription polarized sunglass lenses” said Sam Kotob, president and founder of Reptile. “We take a lot of pride in finding solutions and this new product makes it possible for hyperopes, with strong prescriptions, to wear wrap styles which until now, was not an option.”
Specifics: SlimPlus digital lens design incorporates a digital technique with Reptiles’ DHD160° technology. This minimizes the Rx thickness and distortion by producing the Rx on a precise surface area of the blank which expands the ability to produce prescriptions in up to +6.00 in 65 eye size with as little as 60 PD without compromising vision, comfort or esthetics.
Selling Points: The lenses are up to 55 percent thinner than traditional digital lenses and provide better visual field of vision than traditional lenses due to the digital design, according to Reptile. SlimPlus lenses are available in single vision and progressive designs.

Quick Take: Oakley has introduced new and sun and optical style for men for Spring/Summer 2013.
Specifics: The six new styles, three sun and three ophthalmic.
Selling Points: For Rx, Oakley adds the Crosslink Sweep which combines the iconic Oakley sweep design with interchangeable temples in tonal and pop colors. The Yarddog II, an Oakley original crafted with three distinct hues of acetate, inspired by the racing stripe design of the Junkyard with a faux semi-rimless center and Oakley heritage orbital shape. Lastly, the Hollowpoint is an ultra-lightweight titanium frame in a screw-less hinge construction accented with color on the temple inlays and tips. In sun, the TwoFace is Oakley’s first time pairing their lightweight O Matter material with aluminum lower rims. The hybrid frame features on-trend, 60’s inspired, 6-Base frame designed to fit medium faces. The StyleSwitch features the convenience of Oakley Switchlock interchangeable lens technology in a lifestyle sunglass; while the Pit Boss II is Oakley’s premium launch for 2013 made in a hybrid of titanium and O Matter with Hexalobular Bolts that secure impact plates for high velocity protection and HD Polarized lenses, as well as a hydrophobic coating.

ProDesign has added three new styles to their unique 4th Dimension collection. Inspired by ample spaces and lines in architecture, styles 4681, 4682 and 4683 are the product of a time-consuming process, starting with prototypes made from paper that explore cut-outs and lines on the temples. The prototypes were then produced in metal to achieve just the right level of lightness. The retro inspired collection features shapes that are more slender and curvy, with a lowered nose bridge for a more feminine feel, with acetate fronts and the metal 3D temple design.
