For Spring/Summer 2012, Marchon has introduced the new Ferragamo Eyewear collection which embodies the unique and timeless style synonymous with the Italian brand.
Wearer: Fans of the brand, well-known for its shoes and leather goods, which have long been associated with luxury.
Specifics: The collection features the innovative use of materials and skilled craftsmanship and translates the brand’s heritage into an initial launch collection of 37 suns styles and 37 ophthalmic frames. There are 49 styles available for women and 25 for men.
Selling Points: The styles incorporate accents on the frame fronts, end pieces and temples that create an air of sophisticated femininity and casual masculinity. Signature details include the 'Gancino' and 'Vara,' iconic Ferragamo details commonly incorporated into the brand’s accessory collections. The Gancino is fashioned after an iron gate at the company's Florentine headquarters and is molded of polished metal and enamel; while the Vara, a clasp reminiscent of a bit, is engraved with the Ferragamo logo. In keeping with the brand's roots, the collection features a standout aviator sun style whose frame front and end pieces are wrapped in leather.

VSP Optics Group Expands Unity Performance Optics Line

All the lenses offer position-of-wear precision, delivering a customized prescription that gives patients even greater personalization and visual clarity by compensating for frame wrap, pantoscopic tilt, and back-vertex distance.
Specifics: Unity PLxtra is a VSP “O” category digital progressive lens in five fixed fitting heights from 12mm to 20mm with position-of-wear design customization. Unity PLxtreme is the Unity progressive lens solution for wrap frames. Unity SVxtra is a customized, digital single vision lens solution compensating for the patient’s individual position-of-wear measurements. Unity SVxtreme is the single vision performance lens choice for patients with high wrap frames. Unity CVx is designed for patients who spend more than two hours per day in front of a computer, tablet or smartphone; it offers optimal vision and comfort in the near and intermediate viewing area. CVx lenses are simple to dispense and only require the patient’s distance prescription and reading addition power. “The expansion of Unity Performance Optics allows our organization to continue supporting independent eyecare professionals with new products powered by the latest technology at a great value,” said Dave Delle Donne, VSP Optics Group’s VP of business development. “We pair that technology with an easy dispensing process for patient and provider, ensuring their satisfaction above all else.”
Selling Points: Available to all eyecare professionals and patients, Unity lenses are available in virtually all materials. Additionally, VSP practices can maximize their revenue and receive up to $25 in Unity Savings on each qualifying VSP claim. Designed to support VSP practices, the Unity Savings program lets VSP providers exclusively receive $10 for each Unity progressive lens dispensed to a VSP patient. They can then earn an additional $10 for adding Unity Performance Coatings and another $5 for adding Transitions.

Prodesign Denmark Extends Essential Collection

Prodesign Denmark has extended their Essential collection. The Essential collection is characterized by having a distinct milled pattern, made from three layers of acetate – the pattern is milled down to reveal the second color.
Specifics: Six new shapes, styles 1694 through 1699, in two to four colors each. All shapes accommodate progressive lenses.
Selling Points: The new styles highlight an abundance of colors choices, including a high fashion white and a bold red front color on the masculine shapes; while the feminine shapes reveal both a cream brown and a deep, beautiful petrol. Charmant USA has teamed up with a New York City advertising agency to launch the new brand image for their flagship line: Charmant Titanium Perfection. The new strategy will involve a comprehensive campaign that speaks to retailers and end-consumers.
