NEW YORK—After a year and a half that saw most of us spending more time indoors than usual, summer 2021 is shaping up to be a season for getting active and getting outside. This summer is chock-full of big-deal sporting events—the Euros, the Tour de France, Wimbledon, the All-Star game and, of course, the Olympics, which are looming just over the horizon. This weekend, we’re taking a look at how some ECPs are using this moment to remind patients and followers just how important eye safety is. Adapt some ideas for yourself, and then catch a game.

Global Alliance Announces ‘Love Your Eyes’ Theme for World Sight Day 2021
LONDON—With 100 days to go until World Sight Day 2021, the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) and its members yesterday announced "Love Your Eyes" as the theme for this year’s World Sight Day, which falls on October 14, 2021. IAPB has been joined by six World Sight Day Global Partners this year: Allergan, Bayer, Novartis, OneSight, Seva Foundation and World Council of Optometry.

Taking On the Challenge Together
When Lynda Nguyen, OD, and her husband, Duy Bui, decided to take on the venture of opening a cold-start practice in 2018, they didn’t expect for her husband, an engineer, to physically be in the office. Yet when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, just months before the opening of Clarity Eye Care in McKinney, Texas, he started working remotely before his employer permanently eliminated its office space. Now, he’s juggling his full-time engineering job with his responsibilities at Clarity Eye Care, where he helps out with the lab and is good at frame styling and helping patients. “He’s our office manager, and I’m super grateful for that,” Dr. Nguyen says.
