NEW YORK— Two experts in consumer health have joined the growing roster of speakers at the Vision Monday Global Leadership Summit the theme of which is “The Future of Healthcare: Beyond 2020.”

Kip Webb, MD, MPH has been successful in leading healthcare reform as a pediatrician, a professor, and a business leader. He is an advocate for healthcare that is patient-centric, affordable, reliable, and transparent. Dr. Webb worked with Accenture for 12 years, most recently serving as managing director, chief clinical innovation officer.

At Accenture, he was responsible for creating practical, new healthcare delivery models leveraging the latest technologies, data, and analytics. Dr. Webb worked closely with venture capital, digital health start-up companies, and healthcare clients to assess, plan, deploy, operate, and optimize new models of healthcare delivery. As Accenture’s global clinical transformation leader, he led and managed the company’s North American Healthcare Provider Practice and Global Clinical Transformation Practice.

Dr. Webb regularly lectures on healthcare innovation at the University of California, Berkeley’s Haas Business School and its School of Public Health.

At the VM Summit, Dr. Webb will provide insights about the evolutionary and revolutionary macro forces that are shaping the way healthcare is being provided, including politics, access, new funding mechanisms, consumerism, digital/IT and the social determinants of health. He will explain how these forces are shaping the provider agenda, strategy, and investments both in the near term and longer term.

Dr. Webb will also discuss how leading organizations are investing in innovative ways of reaching the consumer to both attract and retain new customers and lower costs, and will relate these trends to the optical industry.

Also joining the Summit program is Stu MacFarlane, chief marketing officer for Internet Brands Health, which includes WebMD, Demandforce, Officite, iMatrix and Vitals. In addition to leading marketing efforts, MacFarlane is responsible for launching new consumer health businesses, including the recent launches of WebMD Care, WebMDRx and WebMD Labs.

“Our evolution is in sync with the changing health care environment,” MacFarlane said in a statement about the new WebMD initiatives. “Consumers’ health information needs are changing rapidly. They have less face time with health care professionals, so they are expected to take on more health-related tasks, such as learning about conditions and getting information on prescriptions. WebMD is evolving alongside them.”

Three other notable speakers will also share their perspectives on the rapidly changing healthcare landscape.

Mony Iyer, vice president, specialty healthcare services, Walmart Health and Wellness, will share a look inside Walmart’s newest Health Center, which just opened in recent months and is offering a new approach to healthcare services.

Jennifer Esposito, vice president, health for Magic Leap, will discuss how the company is building the next generation of computing, spatial computing, creating 3D imagery to visualize data, run simulations and train doctors and other professionals.

Jo Natauri, partner and global head of healthcare investing for Goldman Sachs’ Merchant Banking Division (MBD) will present the view from the vantage point of today’s major global investors toward the fast-changing healthcare space, talking about which types of business models are getting their attention, and how consumer expectations and new technology is impacting the field.
