NEW YORK—To honor the 100th anniversary of the founding of Germany’s famous Bauhaus School, Silhouette’s neubau debuted a special edition “Walter & Wassily” sun collection. Inspired by the Bauhaus’ art and legacy, the collection is named for Walter Gropius, founder of the school, and Wassily Kandinsky, a painter and teacher at the school.

The “Walter & Wassily” frame is a unisex 3D printed and titanium frame with adjustable temples and UV 400 protection. Its round design draws inspiration from the façade of the famous Bauhaus building, and the titanium frame and temples are a reference to the period’s famous bent steel tube furniture. It is available in three color combinations: snow white/black matte, black coal/electric silver, and black coal/brass matte.

The design of this special collection calls upon the Bauhaus ideal of form following function. Inspired by this, neubau has adopted its own slogan, “human follows form,” which is accompanied by a campaign focusing on the interaction between design and the human body.
