Peter Menziuso.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. and SANTA ANA, Calif.—Johnson & Johnson Vision, a global eye health company and part of Johnson & Johnson MedTech, has named Peter Menziuso as company group chairman, according to an announcement Tuesday. Menziuso now leads the full Johnson & Johnson Vision portfolio, which offers solutions designed to provide healthy sight for life. This includes world-leading brands such as Acuvue contact lenses, Tecnis family of intraocular lenses and TearScience LipiFlow, among other brands and products. Johnson & Johnson Vision generates nearly $5 billion in annual sales, employs more than 10,000 high-performing individuals and improves the lives of more than 52 million people each year, according to the announcement.

“Peter’s breadth of experience and passion for eye health position him well to lead J&J Vision,” said Ashley McEvoy, executive vice president, worldwide chairman, Johnson & Johnson MedTech. “Peter has built a reputation as a purpose-driven, highly successful global leader, with a deep focus on innovation in service of health care professionals and patients.”  (The MedTech group includes surgery, orthopaedics, vision and interventional solutions.)

Throughout his 30-plus year career at Johnson & Johnson, Menziuso has accelerated businesses to high growth by articulating a compelling vision and strategy, building high-performing teams, and strengthening accountability. He has spent half of his career in roles outside of the U.S. and has deep experience across the health care industry—spanning pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical devices in a variety of therapeutic areas, the company noted.

A substantial part of Menziuso’s experience has been based in eye health. Prior to his appointment as company group chairman, he was worldwide president for the company’s vision care division. In this role, he has created and raised standards of eyecare around the world and shaped a portfolio of meaningful solutions to deliver healthy sight for life. He also previously served as U.S. president for vision care, where he built a deep connection and appreciation of the eye health industry.

“We largely intuit life through sight—it’s how we learn, engage, connect. Across my career with Johnson & Johnson, what has fueled me has been the transformational effect we have on people’s lives on such a large scale—that focus continues,” Menziuso said in the announcement. “As the only eyecare company with health at its core as part of Johnson & Johnson, and with a heritage of innovation ‘firsts,’ we have the unique opportunity to not just imagine what the future of eye health looks like, but to redefine it.”

Menziuso has also served as president, North America, cardiovascular and metabolism, Janssen, where he helped transform the $3+ billion business to a period of dynamic growth. His earlier roles within Johnson & Johnson include vice president, worldwide marketing; vice president, U.S. sales and market development; and general manager, Canada for LifeScan.
