FORT WORTH, Texas—Alcon said recently that the world-renowned professor of ophthalmology Edward J. Holland, MD, will join the company as a member of the research and development (R&D) team. Dr. Holland is a thought-leader in ophthalmology, specializing in the field of cornea and the ocular surface, according to the company’s recent announcement. He will serve as an enterprise senior scientific advisor to Alcon while continuing his private practice. In his role with Alcon, Dr. Holland will be integral in providing strategic input on Alcon’s pipeline and portfolio, including ophthalmic pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Holland’s list of prestigious honors and awards includes the Senior Achievement and Life Achievement Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Binkhorst and Lindstrom Medals from the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Castroviejo Award from the Cornea Society. He has been listed in “Best Doctors in America” and has garnered national and international prestige for his expertise.
