Top Line: Healthy Eyes Advantage (HEA) will offer its October Ocular Symposium, online as part of “The Powered Up Practice Education Series.” The annual event, typically held in Southern California, will now taking place on Sunday, October 25, 10:35 AM to 7:45 PM EDT. This event provides eight hours of COPE-accredited continuing education to optometrists across the country and will be presented in an interactive online Zoom webinar format that meets COPE guidelines for Live CE credit.
The company’s last Ocular Symposium, held in May, had over 1,150 in attendance from across the country, according to HEA.
Close Up: The October 25th event focuses on advancing multiple facets of patient care. The event’s courses will empower optometrists to advance their practices into the future of population health and use technology to provide improved outcomes through prescribing contoured prism. In addition, attendees will strengthen their clinical retina skills to manage more complex retinal conditions and refer effectively when appropriate. Finally, optometrists in attendance will enhance their knowledge of the myopia epidemic and improve their ability to manage myopia more effectively.

In response to the need for social distancing, COPE has temporarily modified its rules to allow attendees to receive Live CE credit for courses presented in an Interactive Distance Learning (webinar) format through the end of 2020. Please note that although COPE has modified its rules in this regard, individual State Boards may have different policies. HEA recommends that attendees contact the state board(s) where they are licensed for verification.
