Quick Take: Salvatore Ferragamo, from Marchon, is debuting its Responsible Eyewear Collection, a new line of women’s eyewear in materials with lower environmental impact.
Specifics: The collection is made up of two models in a total of seven colorways. The frames feature Acetate Renew and BioRay lenses, both recycled and renewable materials that have a lower impact on the planet. Ferragamo is the first brand to launch Acetate Renew, which is part of Marchon’s agreement with Eastman; the material is made from a blend of biobased plastic obtained from wood pulp from sustainable sources and recycled materials recovered from industrial processes. The BioRay lenses are made from biobased plastic derived from castor oil. Ferragamo plans to expand the Responsible collection with optical frames as well.
Selling Point: The Ferragamo Responsible Eyewear Collection maintains the brands iconic, luxurious style, while being kinder to the planet.
