Product: Dry Eye Resources for ECPs
Top Line: According to a 2019 study by the American Academy of Ophthalmology, it is estimated that nearly 16 million Americans suffer from dry eye disease. As dry eye continues to be a common problem among patients, treating it presents a unique opportunity for eyecare professionals (ECPs) to build a dry eye treatment specialty within their practice.
ABB Optical Group, together with industry experts, is introducing resources, products and services to help educate and equip eyecare professionals on how to successfully treat their dry eye patients and help their practice specialize in the treatment of dry eye disease.
Close Up: To help educate ECPs about dry eye and successful treatment outcomes, Jordan Davidson, NCLEC, COA, has joined the ABB Specialty Vision Products consultation team as a clinical contact lens consultant and dry eye specialist. With her extensive knowledge of contact lens and dry eye industries from both a clinical and technical aspect, Davidson will be responsible for clinical consultation services and dry eye education for ECPs, their staff and clients.
ABB also welcomes Rachel Tao to the Specialty Vision Products team as product manager for the company’s dry eye category. Tao, who has more than 12 years of experience in the healthcare and medical device fields, will lead the development of ABB’s dry eye portfolio to ensure that the company’s offerings align with the needs of its ECP customers.
Vital Stats: To help ECPs successfully treat their dry eye patients, ABB is introducing a suite of dry eye products, including:
Regener-Eyes Lite, a sterile, biologic eye drop made of anti-inflammatory cytokines and growth factors, is the newest product in ABB’s dry eye treatment lineup. The types of proteins found in Regener-Eyes Lite have been shown to reduce inflammation and help stimulate the ocular surface to heal, repair and regenerate, leading to reduction in inflammation and irritation caused by dry eye. Regener-Eyes Lite uses technology engineered to help stimulate stem cell communication without cell to cell contact.
VibrantVue Lid and Lash Care, a hypochlorus solution designed to be used by patients for at-home maintenance. The Lid and Lash Cleanser helps relieve itchy, red, irritated eyes, provides a soothing, cooling effect and helps prevent the cycle that leads to meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) dry eye disease. The product also comes in a hydrogel formulation for in-office treatment.
• Eyeleve, an eye compress by Bruder designed specifically to help contact lens wearers extend comfortable wear time of lenses. The consistent, therapeutic moist heat provided by the Eyeleve compress promotes natural hydration and alleviates symptoms of MGD and contact lens‐related dry eye. “It is no secret that dry eye disease is a common condition in the United States, but it is also a treatable one,” said ABB senior vice president of manufacturer partnerships Aaron See. “Our goal of introducing a dry eye category of resources, services and products to ECPs is not just to provide products; we’re providing education, assistance and guidance to ECPs so that they can successfully treat their dry eye patients and help them carve out a dry eye specialty for their practice, leading to overall increased revenue, patient satisfaction and retention.”
