NORWALK, Conn., SAN DIEGO, Calif., and DUBLIN, Calif.—IDOC, Zeiss Vision Care US and Zeiss Medical Technology announced today a five-year agreement to bring Zeiss’ lab services, lens products and medical equipment to all of IDOC’s more than 3,000 independent optometrists across the U.S. The agreement creates new partnership programs through which IDOC practices can access the latest innovations from Zeiss, including Zeiss UVProtect Technology, Zeiss DriveSafe lenses, Zeiss CLARUS 700, Zeiss CIRRUS HD-OCT. IDOC members who buy into the Zeiss program will be able to take advantage of services, support and special pricing.

“This new partnership with a recognized technology leader in optics is exactly what our members need to strengthen independent practices,” said Dave Brown, president and CEO of IDOC. “We’ve heard from our members that they want a lens and equipment partner as independent as they are, and with an unmatched track record of innovation. Zeiss is unique in the industry with its 170+ years legacy of industry firsts.”

Brown cited the strong parallels between the two companies as a further basis for the partnership. “It starts with the foundation element. Zeiss is fully owned by the Carl Zeiss Foundation. That gives them long term perspectives and the security of stable ownership. They’re geared toward the sustained strategic development of products and technology that’s a great match with IDOC. We both have this very long term view.”

Jens Boy, president of Zeiss Vision Care US, told VMAIL that “IDOC is closely aligned with everything we stand for as well. We both support independents, which means controlling your own destiny, being successful and evolving as an independent practice. At Zeiss, we strongly believe in education, training and by offering different products that bring something unique to the industry.” He cited Zeiss UVProtect Technology, the Zeiss C-UVProtect tablet, and Zeiss PhotoFusion as products that “raise the standard of optical care well beyond industry norms.”

Jim Mazzo, global president of ophthalmic devices at Zeiss Medical Technology, remarked, “We are pleased to partner with IDOC and its members to ensure quality eyecare is available to everyone. “This partnership will enable doctors to maximize clinical efficiency and performance while advancing eyecare, every step of the way.”
