ANNAPOLIS, Md.—Vision Innovation Partners has acquired Baltimore Eye Physicians, a leading ophthalmology practice with two locations (including one surgery center) in Baltimore, Maryland, according to an announcement on Monday. The acquisition further expands Vision Innovation Partners’ growing network of ophthalmology practices in the Mid-Atlantic region. The terms of the transaction—which is the management group's 15th deal in just over two years—were not disclosed. Vision Innovation Partners is backed by Centre Partners, a leading middle-market private equity firm focused on the health care and consumer sectors.

The ophthalmology group’s footprint now includes 14 practices, 29 practice locations and seven surgery centers across Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.

“We are pleased to be a part of the Vision Innovation Partners organization,” Dr. Marcos Doxanas, the founder of Baltimore Eye Physicians, said in the announcement. “The opportunity to join a leading organization with an expansive network of clinicians will allow us to adopt best practices, achieve operational efficiencies and meaningfully enhance our practice.”

“Vision Innovation Partners is growing rapidly as we continue to identify high-quality, well-managed practices to add to our platform,” added Vision Innovation Partners chief executive officer Michael Dunn. “Dr. Doxanas and his colleagues at Baltimore Eye Physicians have a longstanding reputation for providing world-class patient care and will be a perfect fit for our organization.”

The management firm (which was known as Chesapeake Eye Care until mid-2019) said it continues to demonstrate a commitment to “partnering with top-performing doctors and expanding patient access to care across its growing network of practice locations and surgery centers in the Mid-Atlantic."
