Henry Ford OptimEyes received the U.S. Retailer
of the Year Award at the Innovation Awards at Transitions Academy on Tuesday evening.


ORLANDO, Fla.—As the largest meeting of Transitions Academy in five years wrapped up Tuesday evening here, Transitions Optical honored Professor Edward C. August of Cranford, N.J., with the prestigious 2019 Transitions Brand Ambassador title. The award is one of several grouped under the umbrella of the Transitions Innovation Awards program.

All of the awards were presented during a recognition ceremony held at the closing of Transitions Academy 2020. “Professor Edward C. August has been a loyal partner to the Transitions brand for many years now and this honor is long overdue,” Drew Smith, director, North America channels for Transitions Optical, said at the awards event.

“He spreads valuable knowledge about Transitions lenses and light management through his presentations and conversations with eyecare professionals and retailers alike. We applaud Professor August on his vast success in 2019 and look forward to seeing how he will continue to educate the masses in 2020.”

The Transitions Brand Ambassador finalists included Dr. Jennifer Chinn of Dr. Chinn’s Vision Care, Dr. Roxanne Fermin with Priority Vision Optometry, and Daniel Brunson, optician at Hicks Brunson Eyewear. All were recognized for their commitment to advocating for the Transitions brand.

Henry Ford OptimEyes of Detroit was honored with the 2019 U.S. Retailer of the Year title during the Innovation Awards recognition event. U.S. Retailer of the Year finalists included Costco Optical and LensCrafters, both of whom were recognized for their commitment to the Transitions brand and improving patient vision.

At the practice level, Spring Hill Eyecare of Spring Hill, Tenn., was named as the 2019 U.S. Eyecare Practice of the Year. Associates in Family Eyecare and Lake Havasu Family Eyecare also were recognized as finalists in the U.S. Eyecare Practice of the Year category for their commitment to promoting healthy sight and support of the Transitions brand.

Value Optical was honored with the 2019 Best in Marketing title during Transitions Academy 2020. Other finalists in the Best in Marketing category included Spring Hill Eyecare and Bonlook for their commitment to strategic marketing of the Transitions brand/family of products.

The 2019 Best in Training title was awarded to Walman Optical. Walman was among a group of Best in Training finalists that included Costco Optical Canada and LensCrafters, which also were recognized for their commitment to providing education in photochromic lenses and the Transitions brand.

Transitions Optical honored Grimard Optique with the 2019 Canadian Retailer of the Year title. Canadian Retailer of the Year finalist Costco Optical was also recognized for its commitment to Transitions brand and improving customers’ vision.


Spring Hill Eyecare of Spring Hill, Tenn., was named as the 2019 U.S. Eyecare Practice of the Year.
The 2019 Canadian Eyecare Practice of the Year title was awarded to Vision Care Centre. LOPTICIEN.CA and Eye Station Optical also were recognized as finalists in the Eyecare Practice of the Year category for their commitment to promoting Transitions brand and encouraging healthy sight.
