GARDEN CITY, N.Y.—Spectrum Vision Partners (SVP) has expanded its regional footprint into Pennsylvania (its fourth state) with the affiliation of Lehigh Valley Eye Center,  to include both the Allentown and Bethlehem locations. In addition, SVP will be affiliated with Valley Eye Surgical Center, an eye ambulatory surgery center also located in the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania, according to a recent SVP announcement. As of this affiliation, SVP’s nearly 800 team members now provide management services in 28 clinical locations and three ambulatory surgery centers, with a staff of more than 80 ophthalmologists and optometrists.

This is Spectrum’s 10th affiliation since 2017, the announcement noted. SVP, a leading management services organization serving the ophthalmology sector, received a “substantial equity investment” from the investment firms GoldPoint Partners LLC, GCM Grosvenor and Hamilton Lane in mid-2018, as VMAIL reported at the time. These three investors co-invested alongside Blue Sea Capital, SVP’s lead private equity partner at the time.

The affiliation of Lehigh Valley Eye Care Center adds seven board certified ophthalmologists and two optometrists to the Spectrum Vision network. Drs. Mark Trachtman, Alan D. Listhaus and Marnie O’Brien, among others, will continue practicing at their current locations, the announcement noted. The offices trained specialists are experts in general ophthalmology, cornea and refractive surgery, dry eye, cataract surgery, glaucoma, retina, pediatric ophthalmology, oculoplastics, primary eyecare and contact lenses.

“This marks a major milestone for Spectrum Vision Partners, as we grow our regional footprint,” SVP chief executive officer Tom Burke said. “We’re proud to assist these two well-established and well-respected Lehigh Valley eyecare centers as they move under the SVP umbrella. Lehigh Valley Eye Center’s award-winning team is a perfect fit for the growing Spectrum network of state-of-the-art eyecare practices.”

Lehigh Valley senior partner, Mark S. Trachtman, MD, noted, “This is an extraordinary opportunity to back our comprehensive eyecare team with some of the finest technology and resources available. Our patients will reap additional benefits from our association with the world-class Spectrum Vision organization. I’m excited about the prospect of joining forces with an internationally recognized group of leaders who are raising the bar for vision care excellence.”

As part of Spectrum Vision Partners, the Lehigh Valley Eye Center’s doctors and services will receive the unrivaled support of a leading management services organization, exclusively serving the ophthalmology sector. In addition to the two new practices in Pennsylvania, SVP supports the growth and management of some of the leading ophthalmology practices and eye ambulatory surgery centers in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut tristate area.
