PORTLAND, Ore.—PECAA, a nationwide doctor alliance group serving independent eyecare professionals, has relaunched their Association Health Plan, known as PECAAHP, on the Cigna and MultiPlan networks. The relaunch of PECAAHP builds upon earlier success and coincides with seasonal open enrollment opportunities, the company said. The Association Health Plan, which originally launched in 2019 on an Aetna network, allows eyecare practices to purchase competitive health insurance for their employees and families by leveraging the size of the PECAA organization to reduce employer premiums.

The company noted, "Excellent rates are available to members regardless of practice size. The Group has been able to negotiate savings of up to 30 percent compared to plans typically available to small businesses in the marketplace."

“We believe attracting and retaining a talented and high-performing team is an essential part of building a culture of excellence that leads to exceptional patient care,” said Bryan Hoban, PECAA member business manager. “The cost-savings available through PECAAHP and the Cigna and MultiPlan networks are a game-changer in making that a reality. Practices of any size can now afford to invest in this critical benefit for staff.” The private, non-profit, level-funded benefits plan provides flexible plan design options with deductibles ranging from $1,500 to $7,350, including an option that is compatible with a Health Savings Account (HSA), the announcement said.

“PECAA’s driving force as a coctor alliance group is to build a vibrant community of independent eyecare professionals,” said Jamie Hughes, senior vice president, PECAA. “While COVID has made 2020 a challenging year for the entire industry, PECAA continues to work hard to create and enhance programs while helping members grow and thrive despite the current headwinds in the market. We prioritized efforts to strengthen PECAAHP as the benefits offered have never been more important given the health care crisis currently gripping the country.”

“I am three years into a cold-start practice and have been feeling frustrated that I can’t offer health insurance to my awesome employees,” added Meg Richardson, OD, Twenty Twenty Family Vision Center, Racine, Wis. “I just received my PECAAHP quote, and it is much more affordable than any other plan I have looked at. The process was so easy, and I am thrilled that I will now be able to offer health insurance to my valuable team of employees.”

Members and non-members are encouraged to get a free, no-obligation quote. More information on PECAA’s Association Health Plan can be found here.
