PORTLAND, Ore.—PECAA, a nationwide doctor alliance group serving more than 3,700 independent eyecare practitioners, has entered into a strategic partnership with Medical Eyeglass Center (MEC), a leading optical dispensary development company, according to an announcement on Monday. MEC will provide PECAA members with unfettered access to its full suite of both dispensary development and turnkey dispensary management solutions designed to strengthen the optical performance of the practice and enhance the patient experience, the announcement noted.

“We are excited about the opportunity to support members of PECAA with a partnership that will strengthen the optical performance of their practices,” MEC chief executive officer Rob Katz said in the announcement. “MEC’s growth strategy and PECAA’s expanding service platform are so well aligned that this partnership is a perfect next step for both companies.”

PECAA member business manager Bryan Hoban noted that “through many years of interacting with PECAA members it is evident that many doctors just don’t have a passion for managing and leading their optical business.”

He added, “The MEC partnership brings best-in-class optical management to the membership, all while growing their business and improving their bottom line. MEC will allow PECAA doctors to focus on their passion, [which is] taking exceptional care of their patients.”

Medical Eyeglass Center was established in 1978 and provides unique and customizable optical dispensary solutions, according to the announcement. Practices seeking a seamless and well-integrated dispensary can choose the option of a comprehensive dispensary management program, where MEC manages the full retail dispensary experience and supports the clinic based approach to successful patient engagement.
