MANALAPAN, N.J.—The Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association, Internal (NORA) has announced they will offer grants to up to 10 students or residents interested in attending the organization’s Clinical Skills Pre-Conference (Sept. 19 to 20) and the 28th Annual General Conference (Sept. 21 to 22). The conferences will be held at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Scottsdale Resorts, Scottsdale, Arizona. Each grant recipient will receive full conference registration and $400 in travel grant funds. This year’s conference theme is “Education. Collaboration. Rehabilitation. - Achieving Favorable Outcomes Through Interdisciplinary Care.”

Throughout the conference, opinion leaders from optometry and other specialties will offer continuing education for professionals who provide rehabilitative services to patients who have suffered a traumatic brain injury. This year’s keynote speaker is two-time Major League Soccer All-Star Alecko Eskandarian, as reported by VMail.

To apply for the grants, interested students and residents must complete an application, which includes an essay discussing the applicant’s interest in neuro-rehabilitation, and/or the values and principles of working as an interdisciplinary team with other professionals who provide rehabilitative services to individuals who have suffered an acquired brain injury. The deadline for applications is July 15, 2019, and winners will be notified by Aug. 1, 2019.

To be eligible for this grant program, recipients must attend the full meeting beginning with registration on Wednesday, Sept. 18 through to Sunday, Sept. 22, and will have the opportunity to attend presentations in addition to being assigned duties throughout the meeting. Grant recipients will be responsible for their own lodging but can take advantage of a special conference room rate offered by the Hilton Scottsdale Resorts.
