BETHESDA, Md.—The National Eye Institute, part of National Institutes of Health, has declared May Healthy Vision Month. For 2021, the theme of Healthy Vision Month is Eye Health on Equity, with a focus on "the importance of increasing diversity in the eye health field—and how that can help everyone have an equal chance for healthy vision," the NEI said on its website. To kick off the month, the NEI has provided a variety of healthy vision resources for ECPS, including social media messages and graphics and sample newsletters. For patients, the NEI has provided resources to help locate an ECP, pay for eyecare, and to understand why regular eye exams are so important for overall health.

The NEI has also spoken with a variety of ECPs about the importance of diversity and representation in the profession, and has made these conversations available online.
