JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—Johnson & Johnson Vision announced Thursday that Charissa Lee, OD, FAAO, has been appointed to the position of head, North America professional affairs. In this capacity, Lee will be responsible for professional relations, professional education and advocacy efforts for Johnson & Johnson Vision Care while also continuing to oversee the Johnson & Johnson Institute, according to the announcement.

This is a new position, a spokeswoman told VMAIL. It combines the initiatives formerly under the Professional Relationship, Professional Education and Advocacy teams, and moving forward they will operate as one Professional Affairs group.

Since May 2014, Lee has served as director of professional education, where she revitalized the focus on emerging doctors and oversaw the Johnson & Johnson Institute.

Over the last five years, she has been involved in vision care product launches, including Acuvue Oasys 1-Day and Acuvue Oasys with Transitions, and also has worked on multiple projects in ocular surface disease and surgical vision.

Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Lee operated a successful private practice in Irvine, Calif., and was a professional affairs consultant and program director at the Johnson & Johnson Institute. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. She received her degree from SUNY College of Optometry and is currently pursuing an MBA from the USC Marshall School of Business.

“The appointment of Dr. Lee to her new position as head, North America professional affairs marks another step forward in our ongoing efforts to advocate for eye health, deliver world-class innovation and provide a superior customer and patient experience,” Thomas Swinnen, president, North America Vision, said in the announcement.
