EYECARE: Coronavirus BRIEFING: Crisis Response Tactics COVID-19 Crisis Response Tactics: LensCrafters and OneSight By Staff Thursday, July 16, 2020 12:15 AM VM brings you the latest information from optical companies and organizations responding to the coronavirus. LensCrafters has launched LensCrafters Cares, an eight-week dedicated initiative in partnership with OneSight. The program officially began on July 13, and is designed to directly support communities affected by COVID-19 by providing complimentary comprehensive eye exams and glasses to recipients with limited means. The exams will take place at LensCrafters core stores across the U.S. and Canada. Through the program, OneSight will partner with local non-profits, including Prevent Blindness, to identify people in need of vision care. These people will then be directed to OneSight.org to fill out an assessment form, and, once, approved, will receive instructions on how to find a store and schedule an appointment. Each participating LensCrafters store will be eligible to book up to three LensCrafters Cares recipients each week. The program has the potential to impact 22,000 patients.Giorgio Candido, SVP & general manager, LensCrafters, said, “Our communities need us, just as they did over 30 years ago when LensCrafters introduced the Gift of Sight program, which eventually became OneSight. Vision is critically important to everyday life and plays a major role in a person’s overall health and well-being. Thanks to our collaboration with OneSight, we have the capability to bring a positive impact to many in need, particularly during Covid-19. LensCrafters Cares is an opportunity to give the gift of vision through our trusted partners, doctors, and associates.”K-T Overbey, president and executive director at OneSight said, “Access to vision care continues to be out of reach for far too many people in our local communities and around the world. Despite current health and economic conditions that have made this challenge even greater, OneSight remains committed to providing clear sight care to those who need it most. We are proud to work with LensCrafters, our longest-standing partner, and their generous doctors and associates to make an impact in communities across the USA and Canada through this program.”Find the latest COVID-19 news you need in VM's Coronavirus Briefing.
